BIO
Originally from Ames, Iowa, Young The Great's (Jessica Young) passion for music started in her early years of high school where she used her songwriting to express her journey through life. "Jessica Young" became a well-known name in her small town, especially with a voice like hers. In her early twenties, Jessica began traveling around the country in search of herself, where she found that songwriting was more than just a passion -- it was what she was meant to do.
When Jessica was in high school, she started to teach herself the guitar which expanded into songwriting. She started playing original songs at local venues and her local church, Cornerstone, where she performed in front of over a thousand people. Because of her extraordinary talents at such a young age, Cornerstone funded studio time and engineers for her to complete a 12 track album in 3 days. Her self-debuted album sold over 900 copies.
After years of exploring her artistry, Jessica’s personal life led her to the military, where she served 3 1/2 years Active Duty for the US Army as an Intelligence Analyst. Upon her return, she pursued her passion by furthering her education in music, developing and expanding her artistry at the Los Angeles Recording School in Hollywood, California. In 2016, Jessica started to rebrand herself as an artist and started going by Young The Great.
Young The Great is currently focusing on supporting Veterans in her community and hopes to use her gift of music on a bigger stage someday.
